PIPESTONE COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT - MAILBOX POLICY
The Pipestone County Highway Department has adopted the following practice in regards to mailboxes along County maintained highways in order to eliminate hazardous mailbox supports and to help in snow removal efforts;
If the current mailbox support is non-compliant, Pipestone County will provide and install a swinging mailbox support free of charge to residents along County maintained highways.
If the current mailbox support is compliant but the resident would like it updated, the resident can either install the new support themselves or hire the County to install it. If the resident chooses to do the work themselves, the County will provide installation instructions.
For new installations, the resident can either install the new support themselves or hire the County to install it. If the resident chooses to do the work themselves, the County will provide installation instructions.
Mail patrons are required to provide and install their own mailbox on the swinging support assembly. Pipestone County will also sell the swinging mailbox supports to residents living on non-County maintained highways at the County’s current cost.
Owners are encouraged to check with their local mail carrier or contact the Highway Department for specifications regarding compliant mailbox supports prior to placement. Pipestone County also does not relocate mailbox supports.
